Trump Business Sought to Bring In Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this period, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the same, an analysis released Thursday stated.

Based on data from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the record filed by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that Trump had attempted to hire over a hundred foreign employees for temporary positions at his Florida resort, according to labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has involved the introduction of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization aimed to employ over 560 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from his first term and during the upcoming year.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this week for remarks justifying the necessity for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to invest $10bn to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a interviewer after it was implied that overseas employees lower the wages of American employees.

The White House declined a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
