On a third straight evening, Irish police have faced an onslaught of projectiles and pyrotechnics in Dublin.

A large crowd of protesters gathered near the gate of a facility sheltering asylum seekers in a westside district of the metropolis.

This represents the latest night of protests at Citywest following a reported sexual assault involving a young girl in the vicinity of the hotel early on Monday.

A man in his twenties, who remains unnamed due to standard procedures in sexual assault proceedings, appeared in court on the following day charged in relation to the alleged event.

Several arrests took place during the serious unrest on that evening, and the Irish police service vowed a “robust response” if the violence continued.

Between the early evening hours on Wednesday, hundreds of participants once more faced off against approximately 40 police in uniform.

The first officers were replaced by the public order unit equipped with plastic shields and additional body protection after sustaining hits from debris, stones, and fireworks.

Some protesters persisted to hurl assorted items at the police members.

Vandalism also took place around the Saggart Luas tram stop, which is adjacent to the road used by the protesters.

Specialized officers advanced the crowd away from the hotel by progressing with their shields.

A horse patrol and a canine team were present at the location, with a police helicopter providing overhead assistance.

One officer was affected by pepper spray, and those participating in the chaos also tried to obstruct police vehicles using steel barriers.

While the initial demonstration concluded without major incident, a female officer was hurt during Tuesday’s violence and subsequently released from hospital after attention for a foot injury.

A police vehicle was also ignited during the earlier unrest in the week.

The police commissioner, who inspected the scene after the events, stated on Wednesday that he was “determined” to see additional individuals brought before the courts to answer for their conduct.

He described the disorder as far from calm and added, “This was aggression with the intent to harm the structure and frighten those inside.”

The country’s leader condemned the acts of hostility, asserting there could be “no justification” for attacks on officers.

Those gathered were observed displaying symbols, chanting opposition phrases, and throwing objects.

There were also efforts to advance on the officer formation using horse-drawn carts and scrambler bikes on that day, and a police helicopter above was aimed at with beams.
