The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while telling gripping, socially charged stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by featuring a different setting and ensemble in every instalment.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our shared bold, daring approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
