Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
