Approximately 55,000 households have currently been impacted by the weather, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Intense precipitation over the past week have intensified the precarious situation of the vast number of evacuated residents in the Gaza Strip, as reported by aid agencies.

"Horrendous" Night Creates Grave Dangers

A spokesman described the weather overnight as "terrible", with downpours so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"These conditions was really difficult for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the winds were so forceful," said the official.

Authorities voice grave anxiety that children living in temporary structures in damp garments will contract hypothermia and other ailments.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a higher death toll. Spokespeople reported that multiple homes had fully given way and many others had sustained partial collapse.

  • Nearly 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 official shelters inundated.
  • Numerous individuals forced to find new shelter.

Assistance Distribution Considered Not Enough

Agencies have increased deliveries of tents, bedding and clothes following the truce started, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are striving constantly to deliver that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the necessities is so vast that we continue to see many thousands of people and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," warned one representative.

Ongoing Issues and Agreement Terms

The subsequent part of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of military forces, and other provisions.

Aid bodies have underscored the necessity for "greater and continuous aid to meet pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later actions have caused a significant number of lives lost in the territory, as per medical data.
