The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Dominance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 match record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
