Rugby league's governing body has declared that athletes who sign with the “breakaway” R360 will be prohibited for 10 seasons.

The new league, which plans to launch in October 2026, is hoping to draw athletes from both codes with hefty contracts and a reduced fixture list.

Prominent rugby league athletes have reportedly received offers by the breakaway group, which will involve six to eight men's clubs and women's teams located in major cities around the world.

The Samoan the player, who is with New Zealand Warriors in the NRL, has stated he has had talks with the breakaway league.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Payne Haas and Jye Gray are also believed to be weighing up offers from R360.

A group of union nations, including Australia, earlier announced a ban on athletes signing with R360 participating in global fixtures.

“We heard our teams and we've acted decisively,” commented ARLC chief the official.

“Unfortunately, there will persistently exist entities that seek to pirate our game for economic benefit.

“They avoid funding in development systems or the growth of talent. They merely capitalize on the dedication of existing bodies, putting players at risk of financial loss while profiting themselves.

“In truth, they represent, imitating the sport.”

The league is established by retired international Tindall and supported by private investors.

After the potential union sanctions were revealed last week, it stated: “We want to work in partnership as integrated into the international rugby schedule.

“The series is arranged with customized calendars for male and female sides and R360 will permit participants for test matches, as written into their agreements.”

The breakaway group will request authorization for its plans from the international authority, union's administrative organization, at its board session next year.
