Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's success, the gifted performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself received Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved 7 awards during the event.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and Premier PC Title. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by critics.
